Find Property for Sale in Alhaurin el Grande
Alhaurin el Grande is a typical, traditional Andalucian town that is located just 15 minutes from Fuengirola, and can be considered as the border town between the Costa del Sol and Inland Andalucia. Indeed, it is difficult to imagine how close it is to the more touristy coast when looking at the soaring mountains and protected pine woodlands that dominate the scenery.
Property for sale in Alhaurin el Grande is certainly varied, from rustic fincas in the agricultural outskirts, to traditional white washed townhouses in the Old Town. There are also two major golf courses located on the eastern and western boundaries of the town, Alhaurin Golf and Lauro Golf. The old town is perched on the foothills of the mountains, making the narrow Andalucian-style streets at parts steep and winding through the pretty village. There is a large gothic-style church in the centre, and it is an area of natural beauty with springs and small streams running through areas of the town. There are some outstanding Andalucian village-style tapas bars and restaurants also. Casa Paco is an example of a superb fish restaurant and El Postillon which is a small hotel & restaurant on the outskirts of town.
Property for Sale in Alhaurin Golf includes large villas, spacious townhouses and apartments, most of which have great views to the Seve Ballesteros designed 18 hole course. Qualities are excellent, with marble floors, air conditioning, fitted kitchens, bathrooms as well as elevators to the apartments. There is a rustic-style clubhouse which has a terrace with outstanding views over the golf course and which is ideal for a few drinks after a challenging round of golf. There are also shops for basic necessities on site and the area is surrounded by beautiful protected pine woods, and the position of the course perched in the mountains gives it some truly outstanding views over a naturally beautiful region. Alhaurin Golf also has an equestrian centre and a 4* Hotel on site, which are extra features which enhance the urbanization. There is also a typically Inland Andalucian style restaurant, called Venta Los Morenos, which is somewhere cheap but of a decent standard to eat on site.
Lauro Golf is on the other side of town and has 27 holes in total, and is on a flatter area than Alhaurin Golf. The owners of this course have concentrated on the flora and fauna so there is also plenty of wildlife throughout the course as well. There is a small square which was made from the original "Cortijo" (large farm house) where there is a bar, restaurant and golf shop. Facilities are more limited than in Alhaurin Golf, but there is more of an atmosphere of a smaller family run operation than any other golf course in the area. Property for sale in Lauro Golf includes very spacious townhouses as well as smaller apartments, all of which have views of the beautifully manicured golf courses.
So, if you are looking for property for sale in Alhaurin el Grande, what can you expect overall? The area has a rural feel befitting Inland Andalucia, and yet is very close to the coast (approx 15 minutes) and is also only about 20 minutes from Malaga airport. Therefore, it is not in any sense isolated from amenities that you enjoy with the more established Costa del Sol area, but is also free from the hustle and bustle of the high tourist season, and maintains a culturally Spanish feel. So, if you want the best of both worlds, buy property in Alhaurin el Grande!
